As a result of the Nepal Electricity Authority’s decision to convert the 132 KV transmission line into a distribution line, the development of high-capacity transmission grids has become an unavoidable requirement.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, 23 transmission lines with a capacity of 400 kV each are in various stages of development.
Multiple projects, ranging from the inter-country transmission line for power exchange between Nepal and India to those along the country’s north-south corridor, have been forwarded, according to the ministry.
Preparations have also been made for the construction of high-capacity transmission projects to transport electricity from east to west, which will be completed in the near future.
