The Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee of the National Assembly has instructed the government to give the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) high priority and to carry out activity in accordance with them.
Following today’s meeting, committee president Taradevi Bhatta stated that the progress made by the line ministries in relation to the SDGs, as well as the difficulties and solutions to those concerns, should be discussed and monitored.
She stated that the Committee’s directives would be followed through on.
The Committee meeting determined to take steps toward achieving the SDGs by coordinating efforts across all three levels of government, emphasising the importance of localising the SDGs to strengthen the local level’s participation. It also emphasised the importance of establishing collaboration with nations in order to achieve the SDGs.
The committee agreed to help localise the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through SDG champions in the state and to put the COVID-19-affected Dhulikhel Declaration into effect on the committee’s own initiative. This measure aims to improve the effectiveness of the legislature and the State Assembly.
