Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand stated that the committee created by the Ministry of Home Affairs to investigate the Darchula incident will give its report soon.
Jay Singh Dhami, 33, of Byas Rural Municipality-2 in Darchula district, went missing in the Mahakali river on July 30 after Indian Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) severed the rope of a tuin (ropeway bridge) he was trying to cross the river.
During a hearing of the House of Representatives’ State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Home Minister Khand stated that the probe committee has been conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
He went on to say that the report’s production was hampered since certain committee members were away from Kathmandu for special assignments.
According to the Home Minister, a total of 26 persons have died after falling from tuin in the district since 2050 BS. He informed the committee that the bodies in charge had been directed to build the river bridge by replacing the tuin.
“It is the responsibility of the state to save citizens’ lives. “The administration was always concerned about saving people’s lives,” he said.
Home Minister Khand stated that the Nepal Police has gotten near to the Nirmala Panta incident and that the report will be made public after the inquiry is completed. Nirmala, a 13-year-old girl from Kanchanpur, was raped and murdered on July 27, 2018.
