During the day on Monday, the index of the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) rose by 161.94 points, bringing it to 2,980.79 points. It is the largest single-day gain in the history of the stock market.
A similar increase was seen in the Sensitive Index, which monitors the performance of large corporations and closed at 553.40 points, an increase of 31.41%.
There were gains in all of the sub-indices today, with the non-life insurance sub-index reporting the largest gain of 643.63 points. The stock market saw a total turnover of Rs nine billion today, with 17,922,588 shares of 224 scrips being exchanged in the course of the day.
On Sunday, the nepse index had fallen by 108.26 points, bringing it to a close at 2818.72 points.
