Nepal Stock Exchange Closes for Rama Navami Holiday Amid Market Fluctuations

In observance of the sacred Hindu festival of Rama Navami, the Government of Nepal has declared Wednesday, the 5th of Baishakh, as a public holiday. As a result, the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed on this day. Trading activities on the stock exchange will resume as usual from Thursday, the 6th of Baishakh, 2081, commencing at 11:00 AM.

Yesterday, the NEPSE Index experienced a decline of 0.73%, amounting to a loss of 14.81 points, with the index settling at 1,991.71 points. This fluctuation in the stock market occurred ahead of the scheduled holiday in observance of Rama Navami.

Rama Navami holds significant cultural and religious importance in Hinduism. It commemorates the birth of Lord Rama, one of the principal deities in Hindu mythology and the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Rama is revered for embodying the ideals of righteousness, virtuous conduct, and moral integrity. His life story, depicted in the ancient epic Ramayana, serves as a guiding light for followers, emphasizing the values of duty, honor, and compassion. Celebrated on the ninth day of the bright half of the Chaitra lunar month, which typically falls in March or April, Rama Navami is marked with fervent prayers, devotional songs, and religious rituals by millions of devotees worldwide.
