On Sunday, a day after Bhaitika’s death, a bus accident in Salyan claimed the lives of twelve people. According to the Salyan District Police, five passengers died on the spot and seven others died as a result of their injuries while being transported to a hospital after a passenger bus bound for Dang from Salyan crashed nearly 200 metres from the road at Kharkhola along the Rapti Highway in Salyan on Saturday.

The victims were coming home after spending time with their families during the Tihar festival celebrations.

A day before the Salyan disaster, on Saturday, two youngsters aged 20 and 34 who were participating in the Deusi-Bhailo game were killed when a bus hit them in Hetauda Municipality and knocked them to the ground. In addition to the victims, eight others were hurt in the incident. The motorist, who authorities believe may have been under the influence of alcohol, fled the scene. The vehicle was set on fire by enraged citizens.
