President Joe Biden has denied claims that the chaotic situation in Afghanistan is eroding America’s international credibility.
His remarks come after weeks of unrest across the country, with US troops leaving behind government forces who were quickly overrun by Taliban terrorists. Thousands of expats and others attempting to flee the Taliban are still attempting to reach Kabul’s international airport.
The abrupt termination of America’s 20-year presence in Afghanistan, according to US media, has given the impression that its forces have abandoned defenceless people.
However, Biden stated on Friday that none of America’s allies had questioned the country’s legitimacy.
Before deciding to remove US soldiers out of Afghanistan, he said he spoke with leaders from the Group of Seven and NATO countries, and they all agreed.
“We’re making the same commitment,” Biden said when asked about the evacuation of translators and other Afghans who assisted the US war operation.
