There’s no doubt that the market for premium midrange smartphones is growing in Nepal. And why wouldn’t it? I mean flagship devices cost well over 1 lakh. Take the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, for example. It costs a whopping Rs. 154,999! Or any of the latest iPhones for that matter. Thus, people are gravitating more towards the value flagships i.e the premium midrange smartphones. But what are some of the best premium midrange phones available in Nepal?
Starting last year, Apple, Samsung, and even OnePlus (ironically) have ventured into the premium midrange market. Unfortunately, Apple’s iPhone XR and iPhone 11 cost significant money here in Nepal—whereas that trend continues with OnePlus products as well. Thus, smartphones such as OnePlus 8T and the OnePlus 9 are also pretty expensive out here.
Now, brands such as Oppo and Vivo are known for manufacturing great premium midrange smartphones. For instance, Oppo’s Reno series or the Vivo X-series for that matter are quite good. So, these companies should now look forward to bringing those devices to the Nepalese market as well to be more competitive. Anyway, for now, let’s look at some of the best premium midrange phones that are currently available in Nepal.
Best premium midrange phones in Nepal:
Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G
We are starting this list with the newly launched Galaxy A52s 5G. With this, Samsung took the A52 (4G) from earlier this year and made it even better. Fortunately for Samsung, the Galaxy A52 was a decent all-around offering in itself, and there was not much to change except for the processor.
Here, Samsung has replaced the Snapdragon 720G on the A52 with a more powerful Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset. The latter is based on TSMC’s more power-efficient 6nm process and brings four Cortex-A78 (1x 2.4GHz + 3x 2.2GHz) and four Cortex-A55 (4x 1.9GHz) cores. This makes it both powerful and energy-efficient than the 720G.
Moving on, the integrated Snapdragon X53 5G modem makes A52s Samsung’s first mid-range 5G phone in Nepal. Upfront, you get the same 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel which now refreshes at 120Hz inst
